Who are you,
And who am I,
To say what lurks in a mad man’s eye.
Is it a shadow,
As deep as a well,
And as empty as a good man’s hell.
Is it a beast,
With phantom claws,
Who all fear it when it roars.
Is it a mask,
To hide my face,
While I lose myself in the fire place.
Who am I,
I here you ask,
I’m the man behind the mask.
This is the first in a series of poems that illustrate a story.
