the afterglow

close their eyes and sigh with satisfaction,
inhale their rotting corpse... so precious.
stroke their hair crystallized with frost.
entwine their fingers with mine.
they always were delicate, my dearest.
kiss their lips as the maggots come
crawling from the corner of their irises.
the walls are painted with their struggle
and the air lays thick with feigned apologies.
i chuckle as dawn peeps cautiously over the horizon.
oh, it's been crazy these past few days
and it's finally over (for them) but my one regret
is it didn't last longer.
